Guelph Salvation Army officially launches Kettle Campaign on Wednesday – Guelph

The familiar ringing of bells will soon be ringing in malls, shops and other parts of Guelph.

The Salvation Army officially kicks off its annual Christmas Kettle campaign this Wednesday at 6:30 pm outside the Guelph Citadel at 1320 Gordon Street.

The iconic red kettle has become the face of the organization’s annual Christmas fundraising campaign.

In news releases, the Salvation Army sees a target of $450,000.

Of that, $160,000 will be raised through Kettle. The rest will be collected through direct mail and online donations.

If you come across a kettle and don’t have change, the kettle is equipped with a chip tap that allows people to donate using their credit or debit cards, or mobile devices.

All funds raised will stay in Guelph and support local organizations.

The Salvation Army says inflation has not only affected many of our communities, but organizations like them.

They say they look to the Guelph community for their compassion and generosity to help the organization achieve their goals.
