Kick off the holiday season and shop for unique handcrafted gifts on Sunday at the John R. Park Homestead Christmas in the Country event.

Park’s 1850s family home and farm are decorated with natural forest materials, and pioneer demonstrations showcase blacksmithing, fireplace cooking, pomander making and needlework.

A holiday maker’s market, fire-roasted hot cider and chestnuts rounds out the experience.
“Unique photo stations with restored antique sleighs, gilded frames, and wreath backdrops are hugely popular with our guests,” says curator Chris Ives.
“We are also delighted to be able to purchase items handcrafted by select local artisans.”
Christmas in the Country is held at 915 County Road from 11am to 4pm. 50 on the shores of Lake Erie in Essex. Admission is $8, $6 for children and seniors, and up to $30 for families.
