One dead in Grovedale house fire south of Grand Prairie

One person was killed in a house fire Tuesday morning in the community of Grovedale, south of Grande Prairie.

Greenview Fire-Rescue Services responded to the early morning fire and warned that there was an occupant in the burning house, fire officials said.

The fire brigade, with the help of Grande Prairie County firefighters, evacuated the occupants from their homes.

Firefighters and emergency medical services personnel attempted to resuscitate the victim, but were unsuccessful.

The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.

Grovedale is about 20 kilometers south of Grand Prairie, about 457 kilometers northwest of Edmonton.
