‘Disturbing trend’ of more arrests related to driving with disabilities in Ottawa this year

With the holiday season fast approaching, the number of drivers arrested for disability-related offenses is rising, reports the Ottawa Police Department of Transportation.

A total of 463 alcoholic driving violations have been prosecuted so far this year, compared to 375 in the same period in 2021.

“The number of drivers arrested for disability-related crimes continues to rise,” the agency said on social media.

“This is a disturbing trend. Whether you’re going to a special event or a holiday party, make a plan to get home and drive sober.”
