Vernon and Coldstream Place Top 5 in BC Junior Women’s Volleyball State

Winning regional medals is very important to the Vernon Panthers Junior Girls Volleyball Program.

The Junior Cats capped off a great season with a 25-18, 25-23 win over rivals the Calamarca Lakers in the BC Championship bronze medal match in Surrey from 24-26 November.

Panthers head coach Mike Bertram said, “There’s no tearing in the juniors and they have to beat everyone, so it’s a huge achievement for Vernon’s two teams to make it to the quarter-finals.” “Okanagan put four teams in the top seven, which shows how strong volleyball is here and how difficult it is just to reach the states.”

Cadence Kitzl’s great serve and great setting helped her earn a spot on the first All-Star team, while Devyn Hildebrand was named to the second team for her passing and big hits.
