A new local runner beats the elite at the Vancouver Half Marathon

Local runners at the Vancouver Half Marathon on Sunday morning Samantha Jolly, Not on the elite list, she shocked the field to win the race at 1:18:19 in her third half marathon.

“I was shocked,” says Jolly. “The time was faster than expected.”

Jolly, who paid for the race, defeated 11 elites on the start list.

Her goal in the race was to run in less than 1 hour and 20 minutes. She says, “She ran 1:20:22 at the Oak Bay Half Marathon in Victoria, British Columbia in early June, so she found that she could achieve it in less than 1:20.”

She acknowledges her discipline for her amazing performance. Jolly left 10K at a pace of 1:20 (3: 46 / km) at 37:44, splitting the second half of the race negatively, averaging 3:39 per kilometer.

25-year-old Jolly started running when the gym was closed during a pandemic. To date, she has been training with a group of her friends and has no coach. In May of this year, she ran her first marathon at the BMO Vancouver Marathon at 2:50:09.

Canadian Olympic Marathon Athletes Ben pricener Easily won the men’s race at 65:49.Vancouver Brendan won Finished in 2nd place at 67:23. Mohamed Argab New Brunswick was third at 67:38.
