A fall-type storm will hit Quebec from Friday night, bringing up to 100 mm of rain to the south, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

Environmental Canada meteorologist Jean-Philippe Begin said southern Quebec could also see its first snowfall of the season overnight from Sunday to Monday.

Officials say rising water levels and wave activity in the northern Gulf of St. Lawrence could affect northeastern New Brunswick and the Gaspé region, causing minor flooding.

A storm surge warning has been issued along the eastern Gaspé Peninsula and the northern coast of the Gulf of Chalur.
