Musk gives Twitter employees an ultimatum
Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, has ordered employees until Thursday night to commit to “very hardcore” work or leave the company.
“To build the groundbreaking Twitter 2.0 going forward and succeed in an increasingly competitive world, we need to be very hardcore,” Musk wrote in a note. “This means working long hours at high intensity. Only exceptional performance constitutes a passing grade.”
In the memo, Musk goes on to outline how Twitter can become “more engineering-driven” and gives staff an ultimatum.[はい]Click here,” directing the staff to what appears to be an online form.
Musk said employees who fail to do so by 5 p.m. ET on Thursday will receive three months of severance pay. The Washington Post first reported the memo.
The email, with the subject line “Fork in the Road,” came when Musk publicly and privately clashed with a Twitter employee over his approach to running the company. It also happened after Mr. Musk ousted Twitter executives, abolished its board of directors and laid off about half of its staff.
“Whatever decision you make, we appreciate your efforts to make Twitter successful,” Musk said in a note.
