Canucks: Luongo’s wit shines online

In the fall of 2012, longtime Vancouver goaltender Roberto Luongo returned to Florida to prepare for the return of hockey as NHL players were shut out by the owners.

An avid poker player, he returned to Vancouver in mid-autumn to play poker tournaments in Richmond. The late Jason Botchford met him at the River Rock Casino and wrote this story out of their conversation.

In it, Luongo gives an actual interview about Fake Season. he is cocky Allusion Explaining How He Knows Eddie Luck Master with both hands. He dab Kevin Beeksa with sharp, quick one-liners. He’s approachable, gamey, witty, and unusual.

It’s beyond our comprehension that we’ve only seen 7,500 people. How did Luongo become one of the most unusual, interesting, and funniest athletes ever seen skating down Vancouver?

I’ve probably written 1,000 stories on Luongo by now. I have been around him for 7 years. As for his six of them, he was carefully guarded, with a few notable exceptions. It’s not that he was humorless. What’s more, he often went out of his way to show humor in public –freedom.

“I think we worked a little harder in the early stages,” said Luongo at the River Rock Casino, which is participating in several World Series of Poker events.

“But some things went wrong.Sometimes you have to be shy and political correct As everyone says, don’t ruffle your feathers.”

Luongo is defendant Sensitive and aloof, there is nothing shy or defensive about @strombone1. Instead, Luongo connects with his hockey fans in ways most stars never thought of. In a way most people don’t understand. He’s in several fantasy football leagues.he is attractive criticHe tweets those who spread false rumors.he makes fun his own.And he engages in off-color locker room-like bar stool pranks that can make Twitter feel so sorry fun.

And it was great.

“this is interesting,‘ explained Luongo. “I think it’s more comfortable to do it that way than to meet in person. In that sense, I think it’s because I can be myself despite the distance.

“I don’t even know how that makes sense in practice.That’s right, and it gets to its roots in the fact that Luongo never publicly addresses being @strombone1. freedom he be himself.

Hopefully that dynamic doesn’t change.

He is familiar with the trade market. He understands that while Edmonton is a possibility, it is very unlikely that it will be traded to Florida.

Some don’t believe he would abandon the NTC for Edmonton, but there aren’t many circumstances he ruled out.

In an interview with TEAM 1040, when asked about where he would like to go, he said:

“I want to go where there is a chance.” winYou don’t want to go to a place where there is absolutely no light at the end of the tunnel. There aren’t many teams like that in the league anyway.

“I think there are many good A young team with a bright future, an up-and-coming team. Or any team that is currently established.

“It’s a tough decision, but I haven’t heard back yet.”

Luongo appreciates the reality that the Canucks didn’t wait this long to let him go. The Canucks considered dealing with goalkeepers as soon as the season ended, but instead took the long and patient route. I had to put Luongo on board to make it work. He had to be open to the possibility of coming back. he came about it.

“When we had our exit meeting at the end of the season, and in June during the draft, it didn’t look like much of a return.said Luongo. “The more the summer progressed and the situation developed, the more I knew there was a chance I could come back.

“That’s why I was different[at the Jake Milford Charity Golf Tournament].”
