According to Bloomberg, hackers have stolen data about a billion Chinese from the Shanghai police database. The attack claiming entity is currently selling data (all 23 terabytes) on an online cybercrime forum. According to the sales floor, the leaked data includes names, addresses, national IDs, telephone numbers, criminal case information, and so on. The scale of the breach was so serious that some doubt the credibility of the claim. Shanghai authorities have not yet responded to hacks, and it remains unclear how hackers broke into the system.

Tesla delivered fewer cars than expected this quarter. Tesla’s electric vehicle shipments fell 18% quarter-on-quarter, according to Ars Technica. Still, it’s optimistic because it claims to have produced more cars in June than any other month in history. The reasons given were supply constraints and factory shutdowns. The Tesla plant in Shanghai has been temporarily closed due to public health controls to curb Covid 19. This is only part of the financial report, but details of the company’s health this quarter will be announced on July 20th.

The company promised that Amazon Prime subscribers would find it easier to cancel their subscription. This change was made in response to a complaint from an EU consumer group detailing the misleading cancellation process. Now, instead of going through multiple pages of distracting information and obscure button labels (according to the European Commission), prime subscribers in EU countries can cancel with two clicks. And the UK will see this change, even though it is no longer part of the EU. Unfortunately, Amazon currently has no plans to introduce a similar process in North America.

With soaring demand, manufacturers are competing to keep pace. Even dozens of new record factories failed to meet North American demand, according to the Associated Press. The popularity of vinyl records has grown rapidly over the past few years, as reflected in the double-digit annual growth rate. And now that demand is outpacing supply, no one knows when and how demand will level off.
