Lethbridge family takes advantage of first heavy snow on Sled Hill – Lethbridge

Families from Lethbridge took full advantage of Saturday’s snowfall to head to the sledding hills.

This is the first time Paige Pope takes the kids to Sugar Bowl, one of the city’s big hills.

“[I]love seeing all the little kids drag the GT and do something. Everyone seems to have fun,” Paige said.

For son Carter, these are ideal conditions.

“I like playing in the snow,” said Carter, who had some big wipeouts down the hill.

“I love the end of winter, and that’s great,” Paige added.

Adrian Adhikari said his favorite things about sledding were spending time with his brother and “falling off the hill down the sleigh”.

Veteran sledder Colton Markle says, “You can basically sled down a hill and either be all happy and relieved, or you’re going to be in a lot of pain.”

“I love it,” added Sumit Maitra. “I think it’s the freedom to lose control and hit someone or accidentally hurt someone. It’s a lot of fun.

Sumit saw his 5-year-old son, Riggy, who had just moved from India just two weeks ago, try sledding for the first time.

“It’s a nice experience. He’s never seen anything like this before, so he’s getting a good kick out of it.

“I enjoy it,” added Riggy with a smile.

Global News asked Riggy if he likes snow. His short answer is yes.

“When we go back to the country, we only see this in movies, Bollywood, etc.,” said Summit’s friend Gita Mishra. “We are lucky to have the chance to play in snow like this.”

A snow warning has been issued for southern Alberta, with Environment Canada expecting more than 20 centimeters of snow by Tuesday morning.

The good news is that there will be even more opportunities to hit the slopes in the next few days.
