Letitia Wright opens up about ‘traumatic’ accident while filming ‘Wakanda Forever’

In August 2021, Letitia Wright was hospitalized with injuries including a concussion and a broken shoulder following an accident on the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

talk to varietyWright revealed that the camera rig had an accident while Wright was on his motorcycle during filming in Boston.

“It’s still being processed,” Wright said of the accident. “I’m still working in therapy. It was really traumatic.”

Director Ryan Coogler, who was filming on the main set in Atlanta at the time, recalled receiving news of Wright’s accident.

“It was about how you can imagine,” Cougar said of receiving the call. “I mean, I love these actors. That’s me and Chad’s sister. Your sister. Imagine getting a call saying your is injured, it’s the worst thing in the world.

Coogler and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige rushed to Boston to visit Wright in the hospital. “It was terrifying for anyone and any production,” said Feige. “It’s already, uh…. mentally straining,” he added, referring to the tragic death of “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman.

For her part, Wright was desperate to get back to work. “I remember she wanted to finish the movie,” Wright said. “I think that was one of the first things I said to Ryan, and he said, ‘Tish, you need to recover.'”

Thankfully, the lights recovered and we were able to complete the shoot.

“I had great, great, great medical support, great patience on set,” Wright said. I’m very proud of my resilience, overcoming adversity every step of the way.I cried like a baby when filming ended.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever opens in theaters on Friday, November 11th.
