Zayn Malik announces collaboration with Jimi Hendrix

To Brent Furdick.

Zayn Malik has dropped a new single that is actually older than him.

On Friday, November 25th, the “One Direction” alum released “Angel,” a collaboration of sorts featuring the late Jimi Hendrix.

“Angel” was first released on 1971’s “Cry of Love”. This is the first of countless posthumous albums released after the guitarist’s death in 1970.

The track proved to stand out among ‘Cry of Love’, a compilation of several unreleased tracks Hendrix had been working on before he tragically died of a drug overdose at the age of 27.

The new version of “Angel” adds Malik’s newly recorded vocals to Hendrix’s signature guitar work, released to celebrate the late rock icon’s 80th birthday on November 27th.

“It was an unexpected and great honor to be asked to help celebrate @jimihendrix’s 80th birthday,” Malik wrote on Instagram.
