BREAKING: Fireplace destroys roof of Salmo Resort

A fireplace has destroyed the roof of the Salmo Resort however RCMP say nobody was injured within the blaze Friday afternoon.

Salmo RCMP detachment commander Corp. Darryl Orr instructed the Nelson Star he believed employees and guests have been in a position to escape the constructing with none accidents as the hearth unfold over the roof.

Orr mentioned Salmo Fireplace Division has put out the hearth and the encircling space is protected for the general public. The reason for the hearth will now be investigated, however Orr mentioned it initially seems to have began within the roof and triggered vital water harm to the constructing.

“It’s a historic website, which is unlucky. … It’s an enormous loss for the group for it to occur.”

Salmo Resort is the village’s most outstanding constructing. The unique constructing was constructed in 1896, however was destroyed by fireplace in 1931.

The lodge was rebuilt, and in 1981 was revitalized with a brand new facade. It was bought by mining govt John Mirko in 2021.
