Chris Lethbridge is going against ICBC and the BC government after he was told he owed $11,000 in sales tax based on a used truck quote that cost him $2,100.

A Salmon Arm man said he bought a 2008 Dodge truck at a private sale in October that had about 300,000 kilometers on it.

“We made a deal with an insurance office. As soon as I made the deal, they said the truck was worth $11,000 and you owe taxes on the $11,000…” said Lethbridge.

“I didn’t pay about $1,300 in taxes on a car I paid $2,100 for. It’s ridiculous.”
