Police indict school photographer for sexual assault at Newmarket school

A school photographer has been charged with sexually assaulting two students at a Newmarket school in September.

York Regional Police (YRP) said it had opened an investigation into a school photographer after the victim, a 15-year-old woman, reported being sexually assaulted.

According to YRP, the first incident occurred on September 16, 2022, when a student was being photographed at school.

During the investigation, police said a second victim from the same school, a 16-year-old girl, came forward to report a sexual assault by the same suspect.

Police said they had not identified the school where the assault took place.

On November 2, police said the suspects were arrested and charged in both cases.

Scott Kresan Tilbe, 30, of Barrie faces two charges of sexual assault, sexual interference (for anyone under the age of 16), and sexual exploitation.

In a November 9 news release, the YRP said, “Investigators are asking for his photo to be released and additional victims to emerge.” “Sexual assault includes contact that is non-consensual of a sexual nature.”

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the YRP’s Special Victims Unit – Sexual Assault Section at extension 1-866-876-5423. Crime Stoppers anonymously at 7071, or 1-800-222-TIPS or www.1800222tips.com.
