Anglers Catch Giant 67-Pound Goldfish Named ‘Carrot’ – National

For angler Andy Hackett, any fin is possible.

A 42-year-old fisherman from the UK, Hackett recently caught a goldfish so huge that people called it a “monster”.

A 20-year-old female carp weighs a staggering 67.4 pounds, according to a post on the Bluewater Lakes Facebook page.

Needless to say, people drop Andy and his prize catches onto hooks, lines and weights and marvel at the size of the fish.

According to carp fishery Bluewater Lakes, carrots were first put into ponds about 15 years ago and have proven to be slippery fish ever since.

Continue to grow while dodging most anglers.

Bluewater Lakes spokesman Jason Cowler told FTW Outdoors that carrots were added to the lake “as another thing anglers try to catch.” Her intense orange color is unique – most large carp are pale or brown in color.

According to The Guardian, she is believed to be the second largest of its kind ever captured.

“I always knew Carrot was there, but I never thought I’d be caught,” Hackett told the Daily Mail of his hefty bounty.

“I knew it was a big fish when it took my bait and bobbed left and right. It turns out there is.

“It was great to catch it, but it was also sheer luck.”

It took Hackett about 25 minutes to reel in Carrot. Once he got her, he slid her out of the water, took a few quick pictures of her, and she was released.

A video posted by the Department of Fisheries shows Hackett gently putting his back into the water before splashing and swimming away.
