Green Cedar’s Best Town Home / Villa $ 300,000- $ 379,999 awards were the company’s first BILD awards with a 20-year history. Green Cedar was founded in the early 2000s by Hesham Hammoud, who was encouraged to follow in the footsteps of his father, Salah Hammoud, a hobby of homebuilding. Currently, Hesham presides over the company and builds mainly 100 homes a year in Chestermere and Langdon.

“Because we specialize in custom homes, this BILD entry was another product in the multi-family market,” said Terrence Skoreyko, Sales and Marketing Manager at Green Cedar.

The award was given to four new urban plexes located east of the University of Calgary at 1836 24th Ave. NW in Calgary.

“These four homes featured our signature finish on the interior, paying close attention to detail and finish,” he said, and the unit was sold to four unique buyers.

Green Cedar is planning more multi-family products with upcoming new developments in Chestermere’s Kiniborough South and Cochrane’s new community, Graystone.

For the first time, two remodeling companies got the attention of the jury. Tyrrell Custom Homes won Best Home Renovation (no additions) at its entry Parkhill Tree House, Melanson Homes and Renovations Best Underground Renovation on Undergrade Getaways, Best Kitchen Renovation Up to $ 55,999 on Cozy Chic Kitchen Won.

Chris Tyrrell, owner of Tyrrell Custom Homes, founded a boutique building and remodeling company in 2016. His Parkhill reno award was his second nomination.

“I actually won this time. It was a nice surprise,” he says.

His award-winning project was an urban home in Park Hill. The goal was to create an indoor / outdoor atmosphere with three layers. Upper deck with heat lamp, lower deck with dining and living area with fireplace, sunken living area with wood fire pit and Muscoca chairs.

“I made it so that I could go out and have fun even when I was in Calgary,” says Tyrrell.

His company has potential award candidates for the 2022 award for a new build recently completed at Elbow Park.

Jeff and Leslie-Ann Melanson’s couple duo from Melanson Homes and Renovation have also been nominated in the last few years. They won the award by winning first place in two categories.

“We are really excited to win. We have created such a great team, and everyone is very passionate about not only beautiful design but also really high quality construction. It’s amazing to be recognized, “says Leslie Ann, the company’s creative director.

Cranston’s large basement, Reno, has created a media center that incorporates a home gym, wet bar, existing fireplace and proprietary storage.

“My daughter, 10 or 12 years old, loves to sew. I created these big cabinets downstairs to store all these things, and everything closes as soon as a guest arrives. I will do it, “she says.

The kitchen was part of a complete refurbishment of the bungalows outside Calgary. Melancon blew the walls to open up the space and created a peninsula leading to the living room, making the kitchen feel more spacious. I used hickory for the cupboard.

“Hickory isn’t common, but it gave the kitchen a very warm and beautiful feel. Cozy was the best way to describe the kitchen,” she says.
