San Diego’s MTS selects NFI for up to 473 low-emission and zero-emission buses in The Canadian Business Journal

st. CLOUD, Minnesota, November 30, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — (TSX: NFI, OTC: NFYEF, TSX: NFI.DB) NFI Group Inc. Transit buses from the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (“MTS”) with additional options for up to 432 buses. In total, NFI adds 617 Equivalent Units (“EU”) to its backlog from firm and option orders. These units were included in NFI’s pending awards at the end of Q3 2022. A firm order includes:

  • 28 Excelsior® Compressed Natural Gas (“CNG”) 40 foot large transit bus, and
  • 13 Xcelsior CHARGE NG™ Battery powered 40ft heavy duty transport bus.

The 5-year contract includes the option to purchase 40ft and 60ft Xcelsior.® CNG Bus, 40ft and 60ft Xcelsior CHARGE NG battery electric bus.

The MTS is one of Southern California’s oldest transportation systems, serving the San Diego community for over 135 years. MTS operates one of the cleanest public transit systems in the United States, transporting 88 million passengers annually throughout San Diego County on approximately 100 fixed bus routes.

Backed by Federal Transportation Administration (“FTA”) funding, the order will help MTS achieve its goal of transitioning to a zero-emission fleet as outlined in its multi-year “Zero Emission Bus Deployment Plan.” .
