More for Samsung Unpacked 2022
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 made headlines at Unpacked 2022 (and, understandably, looked gorgeous), but that wasn’t the only thing Samsung announced. I had another phone, three watches, and a new set of earbuds.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is a mainstream foldable phone. The vertically foldable design transforms the 6.7-inch display into a coaster size that fits easily in small pockets. This time, we improved the hinge area and flexible glass to increase durability. Samsung says it can withstand up to 200,000 folds.
Samsung displays are known for their quality, and the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is no exception. It boasts silky-smooth animations and a 120Hz refresh rate that covers the full DCI-P3 color gamut. On the front is a 1.9-inch cover display with a refresh rate of 60Hz and featuring the same stunning colors as the main display.
We have increased the durability of the entire terminal. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 uses Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus+ and an aluminum frame to build its shell. It should also keep rain out with its IPX8 water resistance rating.
For performance, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 system-on-chip, combining 8GB of memory with up to 512GB of storage. Most notably, the storage capacity has doubled from the previous generation.
This time, Samsung has increased the battery capacity from 3,300mAh to 3,700mAh, mitigating the biggest drawback of the previous iteration: battery life. A small increase, but we’ll have to wait and see how it performs.
The camera is a little unexciting. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 seems to inherit the camera system from the previous generation, with a 12MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. This is not the under-display camera used on the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Samsung has opted for his camera instead of a conventional pinhole.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is currently available for pre-order starting at $1,260 CAD in 8GB/128GB configurations. It is scheduled to ship on August 26th.
Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro
Alongside mobile phones, Samsung also released the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro.
The Watch 5 has 44mm and 40mm dials, while the Watch 5 Pro has only 45mm, making it suitable for larger wrists.
The two high-end Watch 5 Pros use premium titanium cases with sapphire crystal displays. Samsung says the sapphire crystal display is 1.6 times stronger than his and can withstand scratches and accidental bumps. The Watch 5 also uses a sapphire display, but comes with an aluminum case.
But the Watch 5 Pro’s biggest advantage is its much larger 590mAh battery. The 40mm Watch 5 has a 284 mAh battery, and the larger 44mm version also has a 410 mAh cell. Nevertheless, all the watches feature fast wireless charging and can reach from zero to 45% capacity in 30 minutes.
The Galaxy Watch 5 series not only tells time, but also tracks numerous metrics for over 90 activities, including swimming, hiking, biking, golfing, yoga, and more. The watch’s BioActive sensor provides more accurate heart rate and health Improved to bring it closer to the skin to read the condition. Additionally, bioelectrical impedance analysis sensors (BIA) sensors can track body fat, skeletal muscle, body water, and more.
In addition to fully customizable watch faces and wallpapers, the Galaxy Watch 5 series also comes with a number of colorful straps. The straps can be easily replaced, so you can color coordinate according to the day of the week.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 starts at $350 CAD for the Bluetooth version and $420 CAD for the LTE version. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro starts at $560 CAD for the Bluetooth version and $630 CAD for the LTE version. All are available for pre-order now and will ship on August 26th.
Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro
Completing the launch are Samsung’s premium wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. Each earbud features a two-way speaker with a subwoofer and tweeter for greater range. Additionally, an updated 24-bit audio codec aims to provide higher audio fidelity.
The earbuds themselves offer some passive noise cancellation, but they also offer active noise cancellation in the noisiest environments. Active noise cancellation automatically turns off when you start speaking. And to support remote meetings, each Galaxy Buds2 Pro is equipped with three high-signal-to-noise ratio microphones that filter out outside sounds.
The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are available for pre-order now for $290 CAD and will ship on August 26th.
