Approximately 68 residents of the Maniwaki CHLSD (long-term care facility) will be moved to two other locations in the town, 100 km north of Ottawa, due to the rise of the Gatineau River flood.

“Sure, the water level has reached critical levels and we need to ensure the safety of our population,” CISSSO, the local health authority, said in a Thursday announcement.
Most of the inhabitants are transferred to the chateau log and the rest are taken to Maniwaki Hospital.
“(CISSSO) wants to reassure residents and their families that everything is being done to ensure the safety and well-being of the population during the process,” said health officials.
Officials said the floods were approaching CHLSD and there were no immediate signs of when the situation would improve.
It is expected to rain intermittently over the next few days.
Hydro-Québec plans to release some water from the huge Baskatong Reservoir to accommodate more rain and thaw.
