Ontario Memorial Day | CP24.com

Ontario residents will have the opportunity to pay tribute to the soldiers who died fighting for Canada through Memorial Day ceremonies throughout the province today.

The main tribute will take place in the State Legislature and will be led by Prime Minister Doug Ford at 10:45 am.

21 salutes and fly passes are also planned for Queen’s Park, with a salute on the north side at 11:00 a.m., according to the Canadian military.

Flypast will travel east to Whitby, Ontario, depending on weather and operational considerations.

The City of Toronto will mark the anniversary with a ceremony beginning at 10:45 a.m. at Old City Hall, which includes remarks from the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. Elizabeth Dowdeswell and Mayor John Torrey.

A ceremony is also scheduled at 11:00 a.m. at the National War Memorial in Ottawa, with remarks by Governor Mary Simon and Minister of Veterans Affairs Lawrence Macaulay.
