Young people who frequently use social media are significantly more likely to develop depression within six months, according to a new study. While social media use increases risk for all personality types, there are some differences. For example, after using social media for 300 minutes or more per day, highly agreeable people were 49% less likely to develop depression than less agreeable people, and highly neurotic people were 49% less likely to develop depression. They were twice as likely to develop depression as those who did not. This research suggests that problematic social comparisons can exacerbate dissatisfaction with oneself. Reading mostly negative news is another factor.
Micron is the latest semiconductor company to announce a major investment round in its supply chain. On Tuesday, the company announced plans to spend up to $100 billion over the next 20 years to build a chip factory in New York. Recent investments in semiconductor technology have been fueled by government incentives, particularly the Chips and Science Act, which provides his $52 billion in subsidies to semiconductor companies, reports The New York Times. With the move, Micron hopes to revitalize semiconductor production in the region and provide as many as 40,000 jobs among Micron employees and suppliers.
Google launches its first cloud region in South Africa. This is the first time on the continent. Additionally, TechCrunch reported that Google is also building a dedicated cloud interconnect site that connects on-premises networks with Google’s cloud grid. The new expansion makes South Africa part of Google’s 35 cloud regions. Users can now deploy cloud resources from specific geographic locations, bringing resources closer to their customers. The decision to launch in South Africa was driven by the market potential of the region. Other cloud providers are also taking note of this. Both Microsoft Azure and AWS have already set up their own cloud networks in this region.

The screenshot shows that 4K resolution is marked as a YouTube premium feature for some users. YouTube’s official Twitter account, his TeamYouTube, is part of an “experiment to better know feature preferences” of viewers, he told one user.
