Twitter’s user base has shrunk significantly after structural changes in how the platform operates. According to MIT Technology Review, just one week after Elon Musk took over his social platform, the platform is said to have lost more than 1 million of his followers. This number was derived by a company called Bot Sentinel, which monitors the activity of users of the platform. The company believes about 877,000 accounts were disabled and about 500,000 accounts were suspended in just one week. That’s more than double the normal number. Bot Sentinel believes it was because people were unhappy with the changes under Musk’s control.

Speaking of Twitter tectonics, Elon Musk has announced that he will permanently suspend users who impersonate others without marking them as parody. This appears to go against his own “free speech” rhetoric he defended. In a separate tweet, Musk elaborated that there are no warnings as they are currently rolling out extensive verification. This change, like the previous one, appears to have happened without notice.

A consortium of semiconductor companies wants to green its production. The consortium, called the Semiconductor Climate Consortium, is made up of more than 60 companies in his electronic supply chain. Big names in this group include Intel, AMD, Samsung, TSMC, Micron and more. The group was just formed last week and is currently in the process of electing a governing council. Lawyers have filed lawsuits against Microsoft, GitHub, and OpenAI for violating programmer rights. According to Matthew Butterick, his Copilot feature on GitHub violates the terms of the open source license. Copilot is an AI-based programming assistance tool that generates code in real time using OpenAI Codex in Microsoft’s Visual Studio development environment. This feature is trained using data retrieved from public repositories. What is controversial is the widespread use of open source code and the generation of new code based on it, but no attribution is given to the original developer. The lawsuit sought $9 billion in damages.
