Meta announced in a staff memo that the company plans to lay off more than 11,000 people, or 13% of its total workforce. The company’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has admitted to mistimed a critical investment in the company, saying layoffs are a “last resort.” Zuckerberg said the layoffs will affect the hiring team and Reality Labs, the division responsible for the company’s metaverse project.
