FDA: Soda Company Recalls Restaurant Drinks Over Cancer-Linked Chemicals and Dye

Several popular products from the Charles Boggini Company have been recalled due to undeclared chemicals and preservatives, including a dye linked to cancer, according to an FDA enforcement notice.

The Pink Lemonade drink was specifically recalled for containing FD&C Red No. 40, a food, drug, and cosmetic dye associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer. The Yellow Lemonade and Yellow Lemonade X drinks were found to contain FD&C Yellow No. 5, a dye known to cause allergic reactions in some individuals. Additionally, the Cola Flavoring Base was found to contain sulfites, preservatives that can cause respiratory issues when consumed in large quantities.

Although the recall is voluntary, the Charles Boggini Company has not confirmed the recall and did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
