Chris Redd breaks silence on brutal attack outside NYC comedy club, ‘SNL’ alum ‘bleeds out’

Chris Redd has opened up about being attacked outside a New York City comedy club last month.

In a sneak peek at an appearance on the “Saturday Night Live” alum’s “The Last Laugh” podcast, Redd recounts how he was assaulted when he entered The Comedy Cellar for a performance.

According to Red, he unexpectedly ran into “a handful of surprise parties” to correct a false report of the incident.

“First, I didn’t get out of the car. I walked there like any other New Yorker, but they just added a lot of details.” peopleshot down reports that he was attacked as he exited his vehicle.

“I just texted my cousin in the olive tree. [Cafe] on top of [Comedy] Cellar, so I could go eat his French fries before quickly getting on stage for the first three sets,” he continued.

“I put my phone in my pocket and walked down to the basement and he hit me in the face with something metal. It cut my nose to the bone and I thought it was brass knuckles,” he said.

As Red explained, he was “hit in the face before”, but this attack was far more serious.

“I wasn’t scared, but what bothered me was that my face was bleeding,” he said.

“I had two broken bones in my nose and one in my cheek, but usually fists don’t break them all at once,” he explained.

“So it was safe to assume that I hit something. The guy who hit me ran away. I was just sitting there and I fell too fast, so watch the footage.” I didn’t even know I had fallen until then.”

Red was unable to track down his attacker before being taken to a nearby hospital, as he was “blood gushing” from his face.

Redd argued that if the bleeding hadn’t been so heavy, the plan would have worked. “If I could stop the bleeding, I would have gone on stage,” he said.

Ultimately, Red admitted, the affair was on its way to his stand-up comedy act.

“I joke as much as some people do, but no one jokes about this more than I do,” he quipped.
