Windsor’s unusually high November temperatures end next weekend

Are you enjoying Windsor Essex’s record-breaking warmth so far this November?

Don’t get used to it. Environment Canada weather watchers predict the spring-like conditions the region has experienced so far this month will end next Saturday, with a sudden arrival of more typical temperatures for Windsor Essex at this time of year.

“Going into next weekend, we expect this pattern to break,” Environment Canada meteorologist Gorf Coulson said on Monday.

But Coulson agrees that our area has been very comfortable the last few days. Last Saturday, Windsor and Essex set a new record. With daytime highs of 22.4 C, November 5th was officially the hottest in the region’s history.

“This surpassed Windsor Airport (monitoring station)’s November 5 record of 22.2 C recorded in 2015,” said Coulson.

Locals happily take advantage of the fine weather. Outdoors in shorts and his T-shirt, he participates in activities like boating and picnics. This is unlike his November in Canada.

A few days of unseasonably good weather this week, with forecasts for clear skies and highs in the double digits.

“It’s well above normal. A typical daytime high for the Windsor area at this time of year is 9 degrees,” Coulson said.

Why is November Spring? Coulson said the Windsor-Essex area is seeing the effects of a persistent “Bermuda High”. This is a high-pressure weather system originating from the Atlantic Ocean.

“It works like a big heat pump, bringing in warmer air masses from the southern United States,” Coulson explained.

However, nothing lasts forever. Especially the weather. Windsor Essex thermometer readings are likely to drop below freezing on the night of November 12, with Environment Canada estimating a 30% chance of gusty winds.

“This is going to be a pretty dramatic shift in temperature patterns, not just in the Windsor area, but across southwestern Ontario,” Coulson said.

“We’re going to see more cold air masses coming in from the north and northwest, affecting our weather…not only will it bring more seasonal temperatures, but perhaps more than seasonal temperatures.” will be lower.”
