Louis is reborn as a squishy toy, chance There he meets wide-eyed Ruby, a gorgeous kangaroo voiced by Australian actress Rose Brin. Together they will discover and showcase the beauty and diversity of Australia, from the Great Barrier Reef to the Barossa Valley. AustraliaUluru’s iconic Red Center, home to an indigenous storyteller.

It’s all part of Tourism Australia’s new campaign to invite people from all over the world to visit.

Arnett is a Canadian actor best known for his role as Bob Bluth on Arrested Development and has been to Australia three times. He says he gave Louis the voice because it was a perfect fit. When he voices a slightly cute character, he is a little heavy and prickly. That’s exactly who Louis is, pretty ridiculous.

“I have always felt a kinship with Australians, because we are both from the Commonwealth countries, so we are Canadians…I was really blown away by how welcoming, kind and friendly the people were. All these elements combined, I really like the message, it’s just so Australian, so welcoming and positive.”

I had the opportunity to interview Arnett about the film and his visit to Australia.

What surprised you most about Australia?

“I was really blown away by how welcoming, helpful and friendly the people were…just wonderful and always had a great time.”

Where is your favorite place to visit in Australia?

“I’ve spent a lot of time in the big cities of Sydney and Melbourne and I really like Melbourne. It’s a very cosmopolitan city. It has a great vibrant arts and music scene…the city has There’s something about it: Melbourne has the same trams as Toronto, and growing up in Toronto made me feel very comfortable.”

what’s your favorite

“There are so many things to do. There are great restaurants, great parks, and going to the beach is great. I remember once being outside of Sydney and walking on the beach. As you pass by, the views are incredible and breathtaking.There is so much nature.”

Where do you want to go next?

“There are so many places in Australia that I haven’t seen yet and I really want to go. I’ve never been to the Great Barrier Reef and would love to go to Western Australia. There is none.”

What would you tell Canadians thinking about going to Australia?

“Go away! I love British Columbia, but the beaches in British Columbia are not attractive and the water is not warm. Australia has a million beaches where you can swim and sunbathe. The message is really It’s like a unicorn, you don’t have to fit in, it doesn’t matter who you are, Australians welcome you.”

Qantas operates direct flights between Vancouver and Sydney.

For first-time visitors, the ‘Golden Triangle’ is recommended, as it takes in popular spots such as Sydney, Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef (Cairns). Tourism Australia recommends staying at least four nights at each location so you don’t rush.

To visit Uluru when in Australia, most domestic airlines (Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin Australia) have regular flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Darwin direct to Ayers Rock Airport.

Multiple Indigenous experiences and tours are available, led by traditional landowners. This includes a Sound of Silence dinner, a guided cave art tour around the base of Uluru, and a traditional dot painting experience. A night at The Field of Light is also a must.

If you’re traveling from one major city to another (Sydney to Cairns, Melbourne to Adelaide, etc.), the best way to travel is by air. If you’re traveling within a city, you’ll most likely have a walkable downtown and good public transportation.
