WALKER Begins Drilling in LAPON GOLD PROJECT, The Canadian Business Journal
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, September 27, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Walker River Resources Corporation (“walker” or “Company“) (TSX-V: “WRRMore) is pleased to announce that reverse circulation (“RC”) drilling has resumed at the Lapon Gold Project, located approximately 40 miles southeast of Yellington, Nevada.
Drilling has begun on the Pikes Peak portion of the Lapon Project, where a program of 7 to 10 holes is planned. Significant historical mining activity exists in the pikes (shafts, adits and mills) in copper and gold environments. A previous regional sampling and exploration program by Walker returned values of 9 g/t Au and 2.2% Cu from the bedrock. (See news release dated September 4, 2019)
Geological mapping and surveys have also revealed the presence of quartz monozonite porphyry, which is of critical importance to the emplacement of copper and gold mineralization in Nevada. It is worth noting that no recent drilling or geological exploration activity has been reported in the Pikes-His Peak claim area.
Following the Pikes Peak program, drilling will transition to the Lapon Canyon portion of the Lapon Gold Project. Drilling will center around a hotspot area located 250 meters on Strike SE, 200 meters above Walker’s previous drills from 2016 to 2021. ).
Key drilling results in the hotspot zone, including 7.62 g/t Au at 48.8 m for LC 21-80, 5.68 g/t Au at 60.9 m for LC 21-81 and 1.84 g/t Au at 122 m for LC 21 encountered. -84 (see news release dated March 31, 2022) is among other significant drilling results from the region.
The hotspot zone appears to lie flat (sub-horizontal to horizontal), similar to Basin and Range thrust fault activity. Therefore, you can drill in different directions (azimuth) from the same drill pad. Up to five holes can be drilled from one drill pad, often in a sector pattern.
Mountain terrain and ruggedness are less demanding here, making drill access construction, setup and drilling easier and faster. Mineralization is covered by approximately 3 meters of loose colluvium, which is not visible at the surface, making access to excavation roads and construction of pads faster and less expensive. Combining this with the geometry of the mineralized zone allows Walker to systematically drill into sections with pads placed every 30 meters. Up to 5 holes per pad. Construction of additional drilling access roads and pads has been completed for this current and future drilling program.
About Rapon Gold Project
The Lapon Gold Project comprises 147 claims (2,940 acres) located in the Wassook Mountains within the Walker Lane Shear Zone, a 100 km wide structural corridor that extends southeast from Reno, Nevada. The project is easily accessible from a major highway (25 kilometers) by minor state highway and is located approximately 60 kilometers southeast of Yellington, Nevada. Transmission lines of the state power grid will pass within 3 kilometers of the project.
The Lapon Gold Project includes Lapon Canyon, Pikes Peak claim located 4 km north, Rattlesnake and Range Front claims 3 km to the west, more than 600 meters lower than current drilling in Lapon Canyon. will be The Rattlesnake, Range Front, and Pikers Peak claims cover the potential extension of the Range Front Zone over 8 km west, north, and south of Lapon Canyon, adding several additional drill target areas to the project. To do. Rattlesnake and Pikes Peak contain numerous historic mining and milling areas made up of various levels of mine shafts, shafts, underground facilities, and the existing network of roads that provide access throughout . Little to no investigative work was done on these claims prior to Walker’s arrival. It is worth noting that the rattlesnake area and Adit collide with the discovery of Lapon Canyon, which is located 3 km and 600 meters above the ground, on strike.
Lapon Canyon is home to historic high-grade gold mining, working approximately 2,000 feet in three shafts. Historical underground work has returned numerous assays in the range of 1 ounce per tonne, with samples at the end of the A layer returning 20.6 ounces of Au per tonne. (NI43-101, Montgomery and Burr, 2004).
