TSA: Handgun found in raw chicken in luggage at Florida airport

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Security at a South Florida airport reported finding a handgun hidden inside a raw piece of chicken stuffed in a traveler’s luggage.

The Transportation Security Administration posted a photo of the gun and poultry on its official Instagram account on Monday.The weapon was recovered at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The post did not identify the travelers who were transporting the weapons or if any arrests had been made.

According to the TSA, fresh meat, seafood and other non-liquid foods are allowed in both carry-on and checked baggage as long as they’re packed with ice. Unloaded firearms can be transported as checked baggage, but must be declared at the ticket counter and packed in a lockable hard case.
