Toronto Accelerates Centennial Park Revitalization Plan, Adds New Amenities This Winter

Winter sports enthusiasts will want to check out Centennial Park this year as the city accelerates revitalization projects to improve amenities in the coming months.

In place of the ski and snowboard program, Centennial Park will host a holiday market featuring local businesses, themed leisure skating in the arena, and a new tobogganing area.

Mayor John Tory said, “I’m thrilled that our staff has made plans for the upcoming winter season with new and fun activities and events to bring people together to enjoy the winter.”

In addition to improving winter comfort, the city has worked to transform playgrounds Wading Pool at Centennial Park.

Implementation of Phase 1 of Toronto’s master plan at Centennial Park began in the fall of 2021 in what the city called “the heart of the park.”

According to the city, the Centennial Park revitalization initiative will be informed by consultant reports, public research, an extensive public consultation process, and will be supported by more than $10 million in capital expenditures over the next five years. Funding comes from the city’s capital budget and other potential sources.
