Suspiciously Positive Insiders View Jay-Z and Jack Dorsey’s Bitcoin Academy

Bitcoin Academy was not as well received as it should have been. Organizations need good press and they got it. Business Insider article “How Jay-Z and Jack Dorsey’s Bitcoin Academy Delivers Financial Inclusion and Breaks Down Barriers of Inequality” is positive, then some. Is it too cynical to question the mainstream media’s positive portrayal of the Bitcoin institution? Maybe, but this is too positive!

when Guardian lost his way To report that a Mercy resident is not at all happy with Bitcoin Academy, we asked:

“Why is the Guardian, a British newspaper, reporting on the Bitcoin Academy from the Mercy’s Project grounds? Of course, it is global news, but the accusatory tone of the article seems questionable.

Now, I find this other article equally questionable. Even if everything they say in it is true.

The protagonists of this article are Mariela Regalado, a Mercy resident, and Lamar Wilson, a Bitcoin Academy instructor known for being a black Bitcoin billionaire. I’ll use their quotes verbatim to paint the clearest picture possible.

What sounded like a perk turned out to be a key recruiting factor. According to Business Insider, Mariela Regalado lives in Marcy. “Both Wilson and Regalado stressed that program students are not under pressure to buy or sell bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies,” the publication said.

They said, “Regalado framed the program as ‘purely this fun and educational journey that I could do with my neighbors’.”

To emphasize that people are “not being pressured to buy or sell bitcoin,” Bitcoin Academy instructor Lamar Wilson said:

“Because I understand the information and can break it down into technical terms so that others, especially those from where I come from, can understand it, I feel it is almost my duty to make sure it gets to them. They encourage you to buy bitcoin, they advise you to invest all your money, and things like that. Let you decide for yourself.”

“Among the comments and their backlash, they seemed to be focusing on scarcity. Hey, thanks. It doesn’t mean we have to stay there, nor do we know what the message is that has led other people and other races to move forward and get rich. It doesn’t mean we don’t deserve it.”

As you can see, she did a phenomenal job. Regalado also painted her eye-popping Bitcoin Academy scene.

“The community aspect was really one of the most important elements for me because we are talking about teens, veterans, seniors, millennials. I can’t think of anything else that connects generational voices so far, to sit down, learn, share with the community, and I honestly can’t think of a space where I can do that.”

Closing Remarks by Ms. Gloria Carter

Gloria Carter, president and co-founder of the Sean Carter Foundation and Jay-Z’s mother, sent a statement to Business Insider. The beginning does a good job of summarizing the whole article in a few sentences.

“A resident of Mercy has appeared. Over 350 people who have attended Bitcoin Academy classes have let us know that this education is important and important to them. The challenge is to provide necessary resources such as dinners, childcare, devices, internet access, dedicated staff and instructors so that as many people as possible can participate in person or online.”

Overall, this is one of the most positive Bitcoin-related articles ever published by mainstream media. It deftly addressed all the points of criticism one by one. Let’s hope this trend continues and reaches a point where it doesn’t look suspicious.
