St. Thomas, Ontario.Police officer facing assault charge after arrest: SIU – London

A police officer in St. Thomas, Ontario, was charged with assault causing bodily harm by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) after being arrested in September.

On Sept. 1, officers found a 29-year-old man wanted on multiple arrest warrants. After fleeing on a bicycle, the man jumped off and fled police. Eventually, officers caught up with him and took him into custody.

Due to the defendant’s injuries during the arrest, the SIU was notified and an investigation was initiated.

Sean James of the Constant St. Thomas Police Department has been criminally charged with one count of assault resulting in bodily injury in violation of Section 267 of the Canadian Penal Code.

“Given the confidentiality of the investigation and the restrictions placed on us in releasing information in certain circumstances, it has remained our practice to be as transparent as possible to the public. ,” read a release from the St. Thomas Police Department.

However, details about the type of injury and how it occurred have not been released.
