Rainie Wilson takes dad Brian to the CMA Awards after stroke

It was a big night for Rainie Wilson at the CMA Awards.

Nominated for six awards, the “Heart Like a Track” singer took home the honors of Female Vocalist of the Year and New Artist of the Year, making the occasion a very special one. Brought the date: her dad, Brian Wilson.

It was all the more meaningful to share such a special occasion with her father, considering her father is recovering from a stroke that caused him to lose his left eye.

“My dad is going to walk the CMA carpet with me,” the singer said. new york post in a recent interview.

“he was sick [with a fungal infection caused by diabetic ketoacidosis] “We didn’t expect him to make it this summer,” she explained. I worked really hard until I was able to get him to walk.”

Wilson paid tribute to her father in her acceptance speech for Female Vocalist of the Year.

“A few months ago my dad got really sick and we thought we were going to lose him,” she told the audience. We walk the carpet together. He’s here. He’s here for my father.”

Meanwhile, Wilson proved to fans why she deserved these awards when she took the stage alongside Hardy for a blistering performance of her hit single “Wait in the Truck.”
