A wild video posted on social media captured a man, not seen on camera, pouring white rum into a sports drink at a water station set up for participants in the Mexico City Marathon last Sunday. according to reportThe man was inebriated and spiked his drink around 6am when he left the nightclub. It’s clear in the video that he intended to get the marathon runner drunk.
A water station was located near the midpoint of a course where runners ran more than 21 km, and consuming undiluted alcohol in combination with exercise could be dangerous. The race volunteers working at the water stations quickly realized what had happened and threw out the alcohol, so the runners didn’t drink the spiked drinks.
