AURORA, Ontario, Sept. 14, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Today at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, Magna is leveraging its automotive electrification and automation expertise to develop new mobility businesses. revealed how to develop opportunities for The company has successfully developed and is piloting a new ‘last mile’ delivery solution for urban environments.

This solution integrates:

With the goal of significantly reducing last-mile delivery costs and carbon footprint in urban areas, Magna’s new mobility team leverages the hardware and software of our automotive products to zero out a “full-stack” solution. Built from Magna’s solutions enable retailers and other stakeholders to offer end-to-end last mile delivery across a variety of potential business models.

The Magna-developed robot will launch on a pilot basis at a Detroit-area pizza restaurant in March 2022. Since then, we have delivered hundreds of pizzas to residential and commercial areas near our restaurant. Magna uses data and consumer feedback to improve our services.

Magna’s robots can travel on public roads at speeds of up to 20 miles per hour, and the low-speed self-driving system developed by Magna uses cameras, radar, LIDAR and other hardware.
