K 2022 attendees invited to stop ocean plastic in Canadian business journal Plastic Bank
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 5, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Plastic Bank will become Ocean Steward and donate 50 ocean plastic bottles to every K 2022 attendee who has pledged to turn off the taps on ocean pollution. I promise to stop. The social enterprise will demonstrate the value of plastic waste at the world’s leading rubber and plastics trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany from 19-26 October 2022.
“Every human being who suffers from the degradation of our oceans and is acting to prevent it is an ocean steward to us. We welcome you to start,” said Ben Lavoie, President of Plastic Bank.
Plastic Bank empowers ethical recycling in fragile coastal communities and works with local entrepreneurs to set up plastic collection branches. Members of the collection community exchange plastic to improve livelihoods, generate income and contribute to alleviating poverty. Recovered plastics are processed into Social Plastic® feedstock, a recycled plastic material available in rPET, rPP, rHDPE and rLDPE, for reintegration into global manufacturing supply chains.
Plastic Bank’s Social Plastic® At K 2022, ingredients will be on display alongside products and packaging made by global partners such as SC Johnson, Henkel, ScanCom, CARTONPACK, IVC Group, The Promoland-Recycool, ADVANSA and Bloem Living. To date, Plastic Bank’s ocean stewardship campaign has prevented more than 60 million kilograms of plastic (equivalent to more than 3 billion plastic bottles) from entering the ocean.
“Plastic flowing into our oceans is one of the greatest threats to humanity and the planet. We will come together for pollution solutions to meaningfully shift the single-use plastic paradigm from waste to circularity.”
K 2022 attendees pledge to stop ocean plastic pollution by stopping by the Plastic Bank booth in Hall 8B, Booth A13.
