Inside Google Canada’s gigantic Toronto headquarters

Google is committed to a collaborative work culture. The employee, who calls himself a Googler, occupies his seven floors of an office building in Toronto’s financial district. The 7,538-square-meter space includes a gaming area, a large cafeteria serving complimentary hot breakfast and lunch daily, a gym, a theater for special events such as presentations and socials, an outdoor patio, and communal kitchens on each floor. You’ll find all the essentials including snacks like hummus and cheese, drinks like sodas, juices, sparkling water and of course coffee.

The tech giant opened the space in 2012 to accommodate its growing presence in the Canadian market. Before the team moved into the building, the company was asked what it wanted the office to look like, according to Jennifer Wang, her manager of her program on the Google Canada site. “There was her focus her group of Googlers helping us decide what games to put in our space and what special features to have,” she says. . “This office is specifically focused on Canadian music and themes.” This includes conference rooms named after Canadian waterways, phone booths named after locally-raised musicians, and the entire space. converted to locally sourced materials such as the wood used in The office also features furniture in Google’s official colors of red, blue, green and yellow.

In 2015, Google took over another floor of the building and created a “Client Experience Center” to host external events and showcase the latest technologies such as smart devices. The company expanded again in his 2017, adding a floor for workers with themes inspired by Toronto’s cultural diversity. “All our meeting and telephone rooms are named after neighborhoods around the city, such as Little He Italy and Chinatown,” he says. In addition to this headquarters, Google has two of his office spaces in the city and will move to a new space on King Street when construction is completed in the near future.
