Former Canucks goalie Eddie Luck returns to business in Vancouver

That’s what former Vancouver Canuck Eddie Luck wants.

A fan favorite nearly a decade ago, the stocky Swedish goalkeeper Luck is making a second career as a real estate agent in Arizona.

“I hope there are a lot of red lights out there,” he quipped Monday morning after a Postmedia editor spotted the signs.

“Usually when it starts raining in Vancouver, I get a call, so I think it’s pretty good timing.”

Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, he believes about 30% of his business comes from Canadians looking for investment properties and second homes.

“For many of our clients, this is the most expensive purchase of their lives.

Always known for his bright personality and outgoing personality, he knows these traits make him a good fit to work in real estate.

“I joked to my wife, Jonah, last week that I love people…most of the time,” Luck said with a laugh.

He admitted that being a former hockey player has helped Canadians as well.

“I think that’s my way to get my foot in the door. From there, it’s up to me to prove to clients that I can do the job,” he said.

“When I see Canadians coming down, I always think they’re a little skeptical at first, like, ‘He’s a hockey player, so do you know what you’re doing?’ You can see what I know,” he said.

Real Estate is like a family business.

“While I was still playing for Sweden, I was investing in real estate. My family did a lot of that back home and taught me how to do it,” Lack explained.

“My wife and I decided to settle down in Arizona rather than in cold Sweden. We decided to buy some rental properties here and get a license. That was always in my plans. Of course.” , I wish I was still playing, but I found this to be fun, it’s a way to help and guide people.”

Lack underwent major hip surgery in late 2019. While recovering, he decided to start studying for a real estate license.

“Then I had to wait to decide if I was actually going to retire,” he said.

He started working as a real estate agent around Christmas 2019, but didn’t realize his playing career was completely over until a few months later.

Injuries forced him to retire, but he remains calm that his hockey career is coming to an end.

“I think I’m always going to ask ‘what if’,” he admitted. I’m always going to ask — what if?

And he has a special bonus. He is always by his daughter’s side.

“My daughter Sophia is almost two, and I’m there every day,” he said. “It’s so important. Build a relationship with her from the beginning. That’s what a lot of hockey players complain about. They’re too far apart and they’re taking their first steps with the kids and things like that.” I am lucky with this.”
