Police say it’s the man we welded when ‘she was blown’

A worker was taken to hospital Monday night after an explosion at the Curran & Briggs Asphalt Plant in Summerside, Prince Edward Island.

Police, fire and ambulance responded to multiple 911 calls around 4pm local time.

Summerside Police Chief Sinclair Walker said: Canadian occupational safety The extent of the man’s injuries did not appear to be serious, saying: “He walked over to the ambulance. I don’t think it’s that serious.”

The cause of the explosion has not been officially identified and is under investigation by occupational health and safety officers at PEI’s Workers’ Compensation Board. But Walker said the worker was welding at the time.

Summerside fire chief Ron Enman also told local media that there was significant damage to the building.
