Authorities in CEGEP St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu on Friday morning warned university students and teachers to lock themselves in their classrooms and offices and dim the lights.

“The Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu police are conducting an operation at CEGEP Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu,” Bauduin wrote on the school’s website. “At the request of the police, students and staff must barricade the enclosed area and dim the lights.”

A security perimeter has been established around the building. du Séminaire Blvd. Located in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, blocked access to the university.

School officials are asking parents not to come to college so as not to interfere with police work.

All school activities for the day have been cancelled.

The cause of the police operation has not yet been made public.
