Carolina Hurricanes beat Edmonton Oilers 7-2 – Edmonton

Andrei Sbenchkov scored his second hat-trick of the season against the Edmonton Oilers as the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Oilers 7-2 on Thursday night.

Rookie Dylan Holloway had his first goal chance in the NHL with a penalty shot midway through the first period.

However, his backhand attempt dripped off his stick and went wide.

The Hurricanes took the lead with 20 seconds remaining in the first when Andrei Svechnikov’s pass gnawed Tyson Barry’s stick and banked in from the post.

Brent Burns scored on each end of the second half.

He shot on a Carolina power play and accidentally slammed the puck into his own goal with the Oilers man advantage. Zach Hyman got the credit.

Svechnikov struck again to make it 3-1 for the Hurricanes, empowering the list stars through Jack Campbell’s glove. Jordan Stahl beat Campbell with a backhand with one second left.

In the third, Conor McDavid slipped through the Hurricanes defense and flipped on his 15th backhand.

While lying on the ice, Jordan Martinook hit the puck out of the air and climbed over Campbell to make it 5-2.

Svechnikov scored a hat-trick with 4:11 remaining, deftly flipping the puck over Campbell’s left pad. Jesper Fast blocked his Campell clearing attempt and slammed the puck into the open net to close out the score.

Svechnikov also scored a hat-trick in the Oilers’ 6-4 victory at Rogers Place on October 20.

The 8-7 Oilers will visit the Florida Panthers on Saturday. The 630 CHED face-off show begins at 12:30 PM and the games begin at 2:00 PM.
