Canadian Business Journal Names Louis Sagoud 54th President of Ontario Home Builders Association
NIAGARA FALLS, ON, Sept. 20, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Yesterday evening, Louis Zagoud of the Sudbury and District Home Builders Association was named one of the 54.th President of the Ontario Home Builders Association for the period 2022-2023. Louie is a home builder and professional renovator from Sudbury, Ontario. His family business, his SLV Homes, has been helping people looking to build their dream homes in the north of the state.
Louis recently served as one of the associations.st Vice President and Member of the OHBA Board of Directors since 2017. He is a longtime active leader in Ontario’s architectural community and has also served as president of the Sudbury & District He Home Builders Association.
Homebuilding is in Louis’ blood. At an early age, he was introduced to the industry by his father. In the early years, Louie gained a mentor in the form of his Caesar Mincone, a master carpenter, who took care of him for many years. This mentorship provided a range of skills that laid the foundation for a lifelong construction career. Louie also credits his father-in-law Tony for sharing the valuable techniques and skills needed to build a home and evolving his construction knowledge.
He took that collective knowledge and wisdom and plunged into the local homebuilding industry. In 2014, Louie founded SLV Homes, promising style, luxury and value to all his clients. In the early days, Louie joined his Alba in wide and his two workers to set up a business. Eight years later, he has won multiple awards and the number of teams has surpassed his 15.
Louis’ rise to the top of the association was delayed in 2019 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The former president, Bob Sikedans, served a three-year term to provide continuity at a crucial time for the association. The entire association thanks Bob for his tireless dedication to our industry members and for his vital role in fighting for a stronger homebuilding industry in our state. “I cannot thank Bob enough for everything he has given the industry over the past three years,” said Zagoud. “It has been a tremendous honor and privilege to take over from Bob and I know I will continue to rely on his experience and insight.”
Now, Louie is leading the charge, laying the foundation for OHBA and making it sustainable for the future. Louis pointed out. “It is a tremendous honor to represent his over 4,000 members across the province who are building the homes and communities that Ontario people need.
At the 2022 OHBA Conference, Louie also presented three association awards that recognize excellence, perseverance and commitment to the industry.
OHBA Member of the Year Award went to Mike Memme of Mountainview Building Group. Mike has made significant contributions to the homebuilding industry, state associations, and the local association Niagara Home His Builders Association. He consistently demonstrates a high level of commitment to industry priorities, especially the challenging and highly technical building code files that affect the industry as a whole.
The 2022 OHBA Local of the Year was awarded to the Peterborough & Kawarsas Home Builders Association (PKHBA). Recipients of the award were President Garnet Norsey and Executive Officer Rebecca Silemat. This is a coveted and respected award that recognizes the outstanding work of OHBA’s community organizations. OHBA is a grassroots organization whose success is closely tied to that of his HBA in the region. PKHBA has been very ambitious and has expanded its membership base, provided effective communication to keep members informed, and has been proactive in strong local advocacy on local government issues. .
Finally, the OHBA David Horton Leadership Award recognizes executive officers who have made outstanding contributions to the industry and local associations. The award went to his Jason Burggraaf of the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association. Jason provides excellent leadership and staff support to address local industry challenges and consistently goes beyond local membership. Jason also plays an important role in the state association and sits on several committees.
