CAA Magazine Goes Paperless and Interactive with The Canadian Business Journal
OTTAWA, Oct. 04, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — CAA North & East Ontario today announced that it will replace the 108-year-old print edition of CAA Magazine with a digital-only interactive experience.
Canada’s highest-circulation historic magazine is printed in quarterly regional editions by eight CAA clubs in the Commonwealth. CAA North & East Ontario is the first club in Canada to fully replace the version of the title in digital form.
The decision to adopt a paperless CAA magazine featuring videos, contests and shareable content was made after much consideration, said Jeff Walker, president and CEO of CAA North & East Ontario. .
“We explored how members consume news, where they get their information and what they have to say about environmental concerns. Very searchable and regularly updated Distributing a digital magazine is a perfect fit for our club’s mission to care for the environment now and in the future.”
By going fully digital, CAA North & East Ontario has reduced paper consumption by 48 million sheets. Since 2021, the club has been digital-first in nearly all communications and marketing, with a few exceptions.
As part of its environmental mission, the club will conduct benchmark emissions audits, invest in hybrid and electric vehicles, and move from its 2,800-square-meter headquarters on Thurston Drive to new headquarters in Lansdowne Park, downtown Ottawa. This has greatly reduced the footprint of the office.
“We have heard from a handful of members that they love the CAA magazine in print. Creating a paperless CAA magazine is just one of the actions we are taking,” Walker added.
