Body found in Saskatchewan identified as missing Métis woman

Saskatoon – Saskatoon Police say a body found near the village belongs to a missing woman whose disappearance over two years ago is considered a homicide.

Nine people have been charged in the death of Megan Gallagher, the last Methi woman seen in the city in 2020.

Her body was found in September during a search near St. Louis, South Saskatchewan, north of Saskatoon.

Three people were arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Police continue to search for 24-year-old Summersky Henry, who is also wanted for first-degree murder.

Others arrested face charges including humiliating the corpse, assault and illegal imprisonment.

Gallagher was 30 when she went missing. Since then, her family has distributed posters and put up signs asking for information all over Saskatoon.

Her father, Brian Gallagher, said in a news release from Metis Nation Saskatchewan earlier this year that it’s been hard not getting answers as to where his daughter is.

“The silence that has killed us is so devastating to so many people, and it’s not just our family, there are many others who suffer from the same reality,” Gallagher said. .

This report by the Canadian Press was first published on November 8, 2022.
