Global News: What was your casting experience like for the show? What angles did you use to make yourself stand out?
Kevin Jacobs: I’ve always been a fan of the show, but when I first thought of applying, I was looking for something that looked like something I wasn’t. . What really worked was looking at my life and trying to find what stood out compared to other competitors. It wasn’t, but it wasn’t like anything we’ve seen on the show before.

Tell us a little bit about the first steps in the casting process.
The casting team is really good. They’ve been doing this for years and years trying to find out all about you. But step 1 just gets that callback. The first step for any potential contestant is to get to know the casting team well enough. You have to be yourself because they’ll figure out if you’re pretending to be the big villain and you’re not, or if you’re pretending to be a hero when you’re not. they will know who you are. they will get through it. So you have to know who you are and stick with it.

I think social media has a role to play, but if you don’t have social media, don’t fake it. If you have a large social media presence, share it with your team. But if they don’t, I don’t think it’s a breach of contract. When I applied for the show, I had no social media at all. I hadn’t posted a photo of him online for 2 years and it had no effect. I think it comes down to being who you are and not putting any sort of front on it.

Do you have any tips or tricks for making yourself stand out and getting the casting team interested in you?
I have some tips and tricks. One is to have a good time. This is fun, you’re applying to the show, it’s not a job interview. Get into it and it will infect your video. So if you say, “Hey, I’m a really funny person,” back it up with a funny story or anecdote instead of just stating that you’re funny. The third is talking to the people in your life. See what they say about you and try to include it in your application. I want to know what you are trying to do.

Canadians are visiting. You’ll probably get a house full of people who are there for the moment and for no other purpose. everyone is there for themselves. It’s terrifying, but it’s also incredible.

How did you get along with everyone at home? How was the general atmosphere during your stay?
This is an adventure. It’s an experience like no other, and part of it is living in his home of 15 people from all over Canada. As a huge fan of the show, I knew some people wouldn’t get along, so I was looking forward to it. I think it’s about meeting people you’ll never meet in your life.

Leaving home made me appreciate what I used to have. I have also become less risk averse. Being on the show was actually pretty scary — yes, I played this confident villain, but what you don’t see is that I was scared to go into the house. Outside the home, I’ve learned that it pays off, so I’m ready to take risks.

What message do you have for those who are hesitant about applying?
If you’re sitting at home making excuses about not being able to take time off from work, or if it’s the wrong time in your life, etc., then this is your sign. No, so take that risk.

I often say, “Hey, I’m not that funny. I’m bored. I don’t have this or that.” Everyone has something interesting to see. Wait a second. You know yourself better than anyone.
