Accredited Online Obesity CME, Canadian Business Journal

EDMONTON, Alberta, Sept. 27, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Obesity Canada (OC), the Canadian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism (CSEM), and the European Society for the Study of Obesity (EASO) are accredited* hands-on, physician-facing patient Center’s Online Obesity Care Course. **

Caliber (Canadian Advanced Learning in Bariatric Care) was developed over the past year by leading national and global obesity researchers and clinicians. Canadian Adult Obesity Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs), first published in 2020. Canadians living with obesity have made important contributions to the program.

Combining online readings and video presentations, and three live interactive workshop sessions, Caliber will cover:

  • Determinants and pathophysiology of obesity
  • weight prejudice, prejudice, discrimination
  • Evidence-Based Obesity Treatment and Support in Canadian CPG (Physical Activity, Medical Nutrition, Behavioral/Psychological Interventions, Pharmacotherapy, Bariatric Surgery)
  • Joint goal setting, managing results, changing tactics

Live sessions for the first cohort will run on November 15, 2022, November 29, 2022, and December 13, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM ET. More cohorts will be added as enrollment grows.

*This activity is an accredited self-assessment program (Section 3) as defined by the Royal Canadian Medical Association and the Surgeon’s Accreditation Maintenance Program and endorsed by the Canadian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism. You can bill up to 18 hours (credits calculated automatically). Participants should only claim credits commensurate with their degree of participation in the activity.
