In its weekly COVID-19 “snapshot” issued Thursday, Ottawa Public Health said circulating levels of COVID-19, as well as other respiratory viruses such as influenza and RSV, remain high.

“Due to ongoing data system changes, data on new COVID-19 hospitalizations are not included in this week’s snapshot,” the agency said.
OPH noted a total of 40 ongoing COVID outbreaks in Ottawa, which are believed to be at moderate levels and slowly declining.
OPH continued to emphasize the importance of wearing a properly fitting mask indoors and/or in crowded public spaces.
Also, “everyone at home when you’re not feeling well” makes a difference.
“It’s all important. And it’s all helpful,” says OPH.
The state’s recommendation to take all 16- and 17-year-olds to “adult” hospitals is hoped to ease the pressure on CHEOs, who continue to be severely overcrowded.
How to get vaccinated against COVID-19 (and flu) in Ottawa

Ottawa health doctor Dr Vera Etches has urged people to get a COVID-19 booster and flu shot this fall.
According to OPH, there are 14 neighborhood wellness hubs where people can stop by and get their COVID-19 vaccine.
Vaccine appointments can be made through Ontario’s COVID-19 Vaccination Portal, by calling the Provincial Vaccine Liaison Center at 1-833-943-3900, or through participating pharmacies.
Anyone over the age of 6 months can get the flu shot. He in Ottawa is available at over 250 pharmacies.
OPH said Thursday that its flu vaccination clinic will expand to include children aged 6 months to 5 and their families, and those without OHIP who were unable to obtain the vaccine through pharmacies or health care providers. He said he continued to provide service.

How to get tested and treated for COVID-19 in Ottawa
Antiviral treatment is available for people with mild symptoms but at high risk of severe COVID-19, but must be taken within the first 5 days after symptoms begin.
