This year’s World Skate Games took place in San Juan from November 8-12 and featured events across all disciplines of skating including downhill, skatingcross, rink hockey and inline freestyle.
Hanna is a sponsor of East Vancouver skateboard manufacturer Landyachtz.
Company spokesperson Ryan Theobald said Pender Harbor is a mecca for downhill skateboarding, having hosted a major event (Attack of Danger Bay) since 2001.
He said Hannah grew up watching these races and benefits from the community that supports the sport.
Theobald said he expects downhill skateboarding to debut at the 2028 LA Olympics.
Katerina Hill (Abbottsford), Tessa Campbell (West Vancouver), Elysia Finch (Kamloops), Clayton Arthurs (North Vancouver) and Cody Byer (Abbotsford) were other British Columbia natives on the downhill team.
Footage from the final show featured four contestants, and Hannah was in second place by about two-thirds of the way, but later overtook her annihilated American rival.
